The The 1st SynBio Conference in Cyprus took place was a 2-day event that took place on the 29th and 30th of March at the University of Nicosia in Cyprus. It brought together geneticists, engineers, bio-futurists, & entrepreneurs who share the same vision and passion for synthetic biology, and provided a road-map to Cyprus for becoming a part of the global #SyntheticBiology community.

Special thanks to Dr. Stavros Malas (University of Nicosia), Dr. Kyriacos Kyriacou (Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics), Dr. George Spyrou (The Cyprus School of Molecular Medicine), Dr. Ioannis (Giannis) S. Patrikios (European University Cyprus), Will Wright (iGEM Ambassador to Europe), Thomas Landrain (Just One Giant Lab) and the iGEM Executive VP Meagan Lizarazo (iGEM Foundation), for sharing their iGEM experience and their work with the attendees.
Panel discussions and talk sessions from our 25 guest speakers provided the audience an understanding of the benefits and implications of the intersection between engineering and biology, and how it can add value to the science and technology ecosystem of Cyprus and the global society.
A special shout-out to Thea for making this conference possible and spearheading Synthetic Biology in Cyprus.
