iGEM at the 2021 Cold Spring Harbor Asia Conference on Synthetic Biology

iGEM Community collaborated with Cold Spring Harbor South Asia to create and provide opportunities for iGEMers pursuing academic careers. Three iGEM Representatives currently pursuing degrees on synthetic biology research topics attended the event to share their unique experiences and also represent the community as emerging young scientists among already established scientists. Read about their experiences on their cards below.

This collaboration was an extension of our efforts to create and provide opportunities to iGEMers pursuing academic careers. Over the years, we have witnessed how the competition experience has advanced the field of synthetic biology. We believe that iGEMers, through their unique experience, will not only add value to the conference but also represent the community as emerging young scientists among already established scientists.

The CSH Asia Conferences builds on the legacy set by the annual CSHL meetings which for the past eighty years have nurtured a plethora of prominent scientists, including Noble laureates, helping to propel the advancement of modern biology. CSHL has long tradition of open scientific exchange and debate coupled with Asia’s rich academic and cultural heritage that enables acceleration of scientific discoveries, cultivates future scientists, and promotes collaborations both formal and informal, both national and international, between scientists, fostering friendships that extend well beyond the traditional laboratory bench.

The Conference featured the following topics: prokaryotic genome engineering, genome engineering of eukaryotic systems, designing cellular circuits, metabolic engineering for chemicals, fuels and materials and emerging tools of Synthetic Biology.
