BridgeBio

About

BridgeBio aims to foster innovation, awareness and collaboration in the synthetic biology business ecosystem, as well as create a supportive and inclusive community to bridge the gap between industry, academia and stakeholders.

BridgeBio will explore the importance and strategies for stakeholder engagement with iGEMers, industrialists and biofounders through a series of workshops and roundtable discussions in order to increase the exposure of iGEM and synthetic biology among regional stakeholders who promote communication and cooperation across their community.

Goals

Bridge the gap between iGEMers and the real world, where technologies created by them are made available to industries and users of these innovative systems.

Empower and support women and underrepresented groups interested in pursuing careers or starting businesses in the field of synthetic biology by providing them with resources, mentorship, and networking opportunities.

Build an open and inclusive SynBio business community where people can share knowledge and build connections while empowering and motivating each other.

Bring more exposure to iGEM and synthetic biology from this initiative of collaboration with local stakeholders who disseminate cooperation across their community.

Provide iGEMers and biofounders with strategies for improved communication and advertising with broad audiences outside iGEM, Academia and Research.

Workshops

We build workshops focusing on four main topics

Breaking down industry buzzwords and jargon, such as intellectual property, commercialisation and marketing strategies to provide a comprehensive understanding of the business side of synthetic biology. This will provide attendees with practical skills and conceptual knowledge that can be applied to their own research or business ventures/industry.

Career Orientation Camps for high Schoolers to inform them about iGEM, the iGEM community and its working. These workshops will aim to inform students about the syn-bio cohort, helping them understand its importance and how they can be a part of this community.

Maintaining balance between your science and the stakeholder. This workshop will provide understanding of the various types of Stakeholder Engagement, the importance of Stakeholder engagement (The pitfalls of not getting outside views) and ways in identifying relevant stakeholders.

Assessing the impact and feasibility of potential products through stakeholder engagement ways in creating feedback loops between a synthetic biology project and the world in which it exists involves Reflection, Responsibility and Responsiveness.
